The programme is delivered by UCC in partnership with the Cork County and City Enterprise Boards and is sponsored and supported by Bank of Ireland, Bord Gáis, Cork BIC, Cork County Council, Cork Chamber, EMC, IBS, PFH, Tyndall National Institute (INSPIRE and ICGEE groups) and the UCC-Food Industry Partnership Board. It is open to all recent graduates of any discipline from any third level institution. Each year, some 10 candidates will be selected to participate through a competitive process.

The Graduate Business Innovation Centre (IGNITE) is located in the state-of-the-art Western Gateway Building, UCC. The Programme provides successful candidates with:

• Business incubation space in the Western Gateway Building, UCC for 9 months
• A comprehensive Start Your Own Business programme including management and business training
• Business mentoring
• Guidance on sourcing funding and investment for a new business
• Regular networking events
• Enterprise support and advice through a series of half-day clinics
• Access to UCC’s academic, research and commercialisation expertise
• Membership of Cork Chamber

Since January 2011, ten businesses have been set up under the IGNITE programme. A number of these are already generating revenue and a number have attracted interest from investors.  Applications are now being invited for the IGNITE programme starting in October 2011. Applications should be submitted by Friday, July 1st, 2011.
