Microelectronics Award for UCC PhD Student
18.06.2009

UCC student, Saeid Daneshgar is this year's winner of the MIDAS Ireland Outstanding Research Publication Award for PhD students.
Saeid received the award for his paper titled: "Observations Concerning the Locking Range in a Complementary Differential LC Injection-Locked Frequency Divider Part I: Qualitative Analysis" which is scheduled to appear in the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems.

MIDAS Ireland (Microelectronic Industry Design Association) [http://www.midasireland.com] is a joint industry and academic organisation which defines and develops the future direction of Integrated Circuit design in Ireland. It is a national cluster consisting of the microelectronics design companies and third level institutions in Ireland, building on the already-strong relationships between them. In 2008, the membership consists of 7 industry members, 18 associated members (High Potential Startup Companies) and 17 academic members representing all the courses in Ireland that produce electronic engineering graduates.

Saeid Daneshgar received the BS degree in Electronic Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2002, and the MS degree from Sharif University of Technology in 2004. He is currently doing his PhD in the Department of Microelectronic Engineering, UCC, and Tyndall National Institute, under the supervision of Professor Peter Kennedy. His research interests are in the areas of modeling, simulation and design of Injection-Locked Frequency Dividers. He was the recipient of Bronze Leaf Certificate at the 4th IEEE Conference on PhD Research in Microelectronics and Electronics 2008.

UCC students have won the MIDAS Ireland Outstanding PhD Research Publication Award every year since the competition began.
