Generic competences are the skills, attitudes, and knowledge that a student acquires over the course of their studies and can be applied in a variety of job and life situations.
There is a major challenge for teaching professionals to develop both the subject-specific and generic competences during the academic year, yet it is not clear how this can best be achieved or indeed how this can be assessed.
On September 30th, Deputy Seán Haughey, Minister for Lifelong Learning, will officially open the NAIRTL Symposium on “Integrating generic competences in the curriculum." The Symposium will aim to address these issues using case studies and examples from European and international leaders representing diverse disciplines such as chemistry, art history, and business and marketing.
Registration for this event is free and all are welcome to attend. Please reserve your place on http://www.nairtl.ie before September 28th.
