Glucksman Gallery Craft Fair
06.11.2009

The Glucksman is delighted to welcome back for a second year the Lewis Glucksman Gallery Craft Fair. The Craft Fair will take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 7th and 8th and will offer visitors the opportunity to view and purchase the unique craftwork of some of Ireland’s leading craftsmakers.

Fiona Kearney, director of the Glucksman was delighted with the response to the gallery’s first craft fair and said: “Last year we welcomed over 1300 visitors over the course of the weekend. The response was amazing and people particularly enjoyed meeting the craftmakers and learning more about the processes involved in producing Irish Craft. This year we have expanded the event to include the entire gallery in response to visitor feedback and we will welcome over 50 craftmakers for Craft Fair 09.”

Focus on… Ceramics
Craft Fair o9 will feature textiles, prints, ceramics, woodturning, furniture, and jewellery. In addition, there is a new strand of programming which will see the gallery showcase a different craft practice each year. This year, the Glucksman will concentrate on ceramics. As part of Focus on Ceramics, the Glucksman has invited four of Ireland’s leading ceramicists to display their work in the Sisk Gallery; Cormac Boydell, Jim Turner, Robert Lee and Sara Flynn.  Cormac, Jim, Robert and Sara were each asked to invite another ceramicist who they felt deserved to be profiled as part of the event, so joining them will be Kevin Callaghan, Marcus O’Mahony, Karen Morgan and Peter Fulop.

Free Admission + Live Talks
With free admission, Craft Fair 09 is a fantastic opportunity for the public to acquire distinctive Irish crafts at affordable prices. In addition to the craft fair, the gallery has programmed a series of talks and presentations by the participating ceramicists in Focus on Ceramics.  It is hoped these talks will introduce visitors to the processes that are involved in producing high quality ceramics.
Talks will take place at:
