07.07.2009

Cork-based consulting engineering company, Fehily Timoney & Company, recently presented the final part of a €50,000 corporate donation to UCC's heritage fund, made over a period of five years.
This fund supports the restoration of UCC's Aula Maxima, the Ogham Stones collection and the Crawford Observatory. The donation cements the close links between Fehily Timoney & Company and UCC which have developed over two decades.  In recognition of this significant donation and as a special tribute to Fehily Timoney & Company's founding partner, Brendan Fehily, a function was hosted for the company at the University.

Speaking at the function Eamon Timoney, Managing Director, Fehily Timoney & Company said: "As a company, we have employed many UCC graduates over the years. As our work involves the delivery of complex projects for clients throughout Ireland and internationally, we very much depend on the high calibre of students graduating from UCC's College of Science, Engineering and Food Science. Our close links with UCC date back to our founding partner, Brendan Fehily. I would like to take this opportunity to pay special tribute to him, in particular, for forging and nurturing our relationship with UCC which continues to go from strength to strength", concluded Mr Timoney.

Dr Michael Murphy, President of UCC, paid tribute to Fehily Timoney & Company, and had a special word of thanks for Brendan Fehily: "We are very grateful to Fehily Timoney & Company for their continued support, particularly in these difficult economic times.  This is an excellent example of how business can partner with education in a meaningful way. I would also like to say a special word of thanks to Brendan Fehily -  himself a 1956 graduate of UCC - for his long association with the College, his generous support of our conservation and heritage projects and his personal contribution to the business life of Cork", concluded Dr Murphy.

In recognition of the company's generous contribution to UCC's conservation and heritage projects, the university has dedicated an Ogham Stone to Brendan Fehily, Founder, Fehily Timoney & Company located in the North Wing of the Quadrangle near the Aula Maxima.
