Chairman of UNICEF UK to deliver Public Lecture at UCC

Mr David Stanton, Chairman of UNICEF UK, will present a public lecture at UCC on Thursday next, May 14th at 7pm in the Council Room, North Wing. The lecture titled “International Development – The Key Players” will be followed by a Questions and Answers Session.

Mr David Stanton, Chairman of UNICEF UK, will present a public lecture at UCC on Thursday next, May 14th at 7pm in the Council Room, North Wing. The lecture titled “International Development – The Key Players” will be followed by a Questions and Answers Session.
Mr Stanton was the UK Ambassador to UNESCO in Paris, 1997-2003, where he served as a member of the Executive Board and Chair of the Finance and Administration Commission. During that time he worked closely with the World Heritage Centre and chaired the World Heritage Committee and the Committee on the Nubia Museum in Aswan and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in Cairo. He chaired the UNESCO-UNICEF Joint Committee on Education in New York and Paris.
Mr Stanton was a member of the Executive Board of the World Bank in Washington, DC (1992-97) and of the Asian Development Bank in Manila (1979-82) and served in the UK Mission to the European Union in Brussels (1977-79). He worked at the UK Overseas Development Administration (now Department for International Development) in the 70s and 80s managing aid projects in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean and served as Head of the Departments dealing with South Asia, the European Union, Aid Policy and Finance.
