Henry Ford & Son, Limited to support the 2007 UCC Alumni Achievement Awards

Henry Ford & Son, Limited will continue their support of University College Cork’s (UCC’s) annual Alumni Achievement Awards by sponsoring the 2007 Awards Programme.

Now in their third year of supporting the Awards, Mr Eddie Murphy Chairman and Managing Director, Henry Ford & Son, Limited said “they were delighted to continue their close association with this Prestigious Awards Programme”.
 
The 2007 UCC Alumni Achievement Awards Programme will endow one graduate from each of the four Colleges with an Alumnus Achievement Award.  There will be four Awards in total: the 2007 Alumnus Achievement Award from the College of Arts, Social Science and Celtic Studies; the 2007 Alumnus Achievement Award from the College of Business and Law; the 2007 Alumnus Achievement Award from the College of Medicine and Health and the 2007 Alumnus Achievement Award from the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science and Technology.   

The annual Awards Programme acknowledges the outstanding accomplishments of UCC alumni and has proven very successful in the past number of years with excellent graduates receiving Awards each year.  An Alumnus Achievement Award is the highest honour the university can bestow upon a graduate. The 2007 Awards selection process has already commenced with each college being asked to nominate distinguished graduates.

Previous Award recipients include internationally renowned Irish poets Paul Durcan and Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill and business leaders Gerry Murphy, head of Kingfisher Plc, UK and Seán O'Driscoll who heads up Glen Dimplex.

Dr. Michael Murphy, President UCC will present the Awards at a Black Tie Gala Dinner in the Aula Maxima, UCC on Friday, December 7th 2007 at 7pm.
