"Eugenics: From Social Policy to Race Cleansing Under the Third Reich", Public Lecture

The role of scientists in implementing the eugenics policy of the Third Reich will be the focus for discussion at the final lecture of the Faculty of Science Public Lecture Series at UCC on 28 March.

How the Nazis took the concept of eugenics as a means of social policy to one which became a racial policy will be discussed by speaker, Michael Whelan.

Michael Whelan was born in London of Cork parents, and educated to secondary level there.  He has achieved a BA in Philosophy and History and an MA in International Relations from UCC.  He is also a qualified Chartered Management Accountant.  He is currently undertaking a PhD at UCC, the title of which is 'Anglo-Irish relations from 1969 to1975'.

The final lecture in the series takes place at UCC's Boole Lecture Theatre 4 at 8pm on Wednesday, 28 March.  The highly popular lecture series was organised by Professor William Reville of the Faculty of Science, UCC. Admission to the lecture is free, and as always, members of the public are invited to attend.
