Calling Contract Researchers at UCC
In December 2006, the Association for Research Contract Staff (ARCS)
was formed in UCC to provide a platform for contract researchers.
Contract researchers at UCC number approximately 600 and until recently
a platform to raise issues of concern did not exist.
Over the last few weeks, ARCS has been collating email addresses for
the purpose of emailing a survey to hear the views of contract
researchers. As the list is not complete, the survey will be available
shortly on webpage: http://www.ucc.ie/en/arcs/
It is hoped that as many researchers as possible respond over a
two-week period. The results will be published on the ARCS
website. There will be a prize draw for those who complete the survey.
It is hoped to have an official launch of the association once the
survey is conducted followed by the first AGM. For details on this,
please keep an eye on the news section of the website.
The association was set up by, and run by, contract researchers on a
voluntary basis. ARCS UCC strives to equally represent research
contract staff at all stages of their careers, and from all four UCC
Colleges. The association will work with UCC and other relevant bodies
to help address these concerns.
