Succeeding Generations - UCC Seminar, 31 January
Many family businesses are negatively affected by poor succession
planning. In some cases, for example, decisions around succession can
give rise to debate over the appropriate management strategy for the
future, and the appropriate management structure. It can become complex
where management and ownership have not been separated. This will
be the focus for discussion at a seminar in UCC on Family Business next
Wednesday, 31 January.
The Family Business Network Ireland networking seminar, hosted by the
John C. Kelleher Family Business Centre at UCC, will hear speakers
Philip MacKeown, recently appointed as a non-executive family director
of Musgrave, and Garvan Corkery, a partner with Ronan Daly Jermyn
solicitors, address this issue.
"Given the importance of good and timely succession planning for all
businesses, but particularly for family-owned businesses, I am pleased
that our next seminar addresses this significant topic and that we have
been able to secure two such interesting speakers. I am confident that
Philip MacKeown's personal experience of succession management,
combined with Musgrave's evident success in managing this area to date
will contribute to a very useful and insightful talk. Equally, I
believe Garvan Corkery's experience in both positive and negative
succession planning scenarios will allow him to offer valuable
perspectives." says Dr Joan Buckley, Director of the John C. Kelleher
Family Business Centre, at UCC.
The seminar will be held in the Cavanagh Pharmaceutical Building at 6pm
next Wednesday, 31 January. Places are limited so those wishing to
attend should contact the Family Business Centre at 021 4902940.
