BCL Graduate, James MacGuill Elected President of the Law Society of Ireland

James MacGuill graduated from UCC with a BCL in 1983 and qualified as a solicitor in 1986.
He is a former auditor of the Philosoph. He practises as a solicitor in Dundalk and specialises in criminal and public law.  He has been a member of the Council of the Law Society since 1991. He is a past Chairman of the Law Society's Criminal Law, Law Reform and Human Rights Committees. He was recently elected President of the Law Society of Ireland, the educational, representative and regulatory body for solicitors in Ireland. He will hold office for one year until November 2008. The Faculty of Law, UCC extends its congratulations to James and wishes him well in his new role as President.
