Satheesh Chandran

Biography

Satheesh Chandran hails from India, and his formative years and early education took place in Kerala, a southern state in the country. He obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Physics from the esteemed University of Calicut in Kerala, India. In 2016, Satheesh successfully completed his doctoral studies at the National Institute of Technology in Calicut, Kerala, India, focusing his research on the advancement of instrumentation based on cavity-enhanced absorption techniques for monitoring atmospheric trace pollutants. Additionally, Satheesh is a co-founder of the startup company "Optind Solutions," Private Limited, situated in Calicut, India. This company is primarily dedicated to developing optical sensors designed for measuring light scattering and extinction phenomena related to atmospheric constituents. These sensors play a vital role in applications such as air pollution monitoring and climate research.

Research Interests

Applied Optics and Laser Spectroscopy, Frequency Comb Spectroscopy and Photonic Sensors, Cavity Enhanced Absorption Spectroscopy, Atmospheric Optics, Development of Optical Instrumentation for Trace Gas Detection, Nephelometers and Laser Transmissometers.

Current Research Project

Presently, I am engaged in an SFI funded Frontiers Award to develop a frequency comb-based trace gas sensor in the near-IR. Furthermore, I am developing cavity enhanced instrumentation for Irish Atmospheric Simulation Chamber.
