The ISS21  Research for Civil Society, Environment and Social Action (REACT) Cluster invites you to the first of two ‘ unconference’ events centered on the premise:  Pedagogical Praxis as a Site of Struggle against Neoliberal Fascisms.
This premise is rooted in critical pedagogy and educational theory and the proposition that universities may be sites where neoliberalism and fascism are resisted and challenged with critical reflection from educators and students.  This event will be participant-driven with lively conversation and debate, based on the ‘ unconference’ model.
The following provocations/questions will be explored:
  • Are university pedagogical practices complicit with neoliberal fascist structures?
  • Can decolonial pedagogies exist within educational institutions that rely on universal metrics, standardisations, merit-based systems and economy/market centered individualised outcomes?
  • How can educators navigate neoliberal fascist institutional and political constraints while enacting decolonial pedagogical resistances?
  • Has decolonial pedagogical praxis been commodified, co-opted and/or contested within neoliberal institutions?
  • How to resist fascist violence through educational praxis?
  • How to engage in decolonial pedagogical praxis to disrupt neoliberal and fascist incursions into education?
  • Exploring a connection with the next event   unconference  (September 24th)
This event will be held online. To register, please email Titas Biswas  TBiswas@ucc.ie by 18th May.
