Dr Ciara Meehan
Dr Ciara Meehan is a Reader in History at the University of Hertfordshire. She specialises in the social and political transformation of independent Ireland, and she is particularly interested in the home, sex knowledge, abortion politics, and policy making. She was co-founder of the Perceptions of Pregnancy Researchers' Network. Among her relevant publications are A Just Society for Ireland? 1964-1987 (Palgrave, 2013) and her forthcoming book, A Woman's Place? Challenging Values in 1960s Irish Women's Magazines, which will be published by Manchester University Press in 2022. She is currently working on widows in independent Ireland, exploring how 'family' is reconstructed and understood in the aftermath of spousal loss.
