TRANSS UCC Working Group
TRANSS UCC Working Group
Overview
The Trans Research Alliance Network of Staff and Students UCC (TRANSS UCC) is a dedicated research working group at University College Cork, aligned with the Genders, Sexualities and Families Research Cluster, ISS21. It has been formed by and for trans and ally researchers. Our mission is to address pressing issues impacting trans lives while challenging traditional academic frameworks that have historically excluded trans voices. TRANSS UCC prioritises trans-led research, ensuring that the perspectives, expertise, and lived experiences of trans scholars are central to work affecting the trans community. Through this commitment, TRANSS UCC seeks to foster a research environment where trans knowledge is valued and impactful.
Primary Aim
TRANSS UCC’s primary aim is to support and encourage trans and ally led research that seeks to tackle issues that impact the trans community.
Ethos
The working group upholds the values of trans self-determination, intersectional justice, and ethical integrity, both within and beyond the working group’s activities.
Membership
We welcome trans and cisgender researchers and allies, working or studying in UCC, who are committed to advancing the working group’s mission of trans-centered, inclusive scholarship. Members can come from a range of disciplines and different career stages, including post-graduate students and early-career researchers We look forward to working with:
- Trans Researchers: We encourage the participation of trans researchers from all disciplines, ensuring that trans perspectives and lived experiences are integral to the work of the working group.
- Cis Allies and Supporters: Cisgender individuals who are committed to advancing trans rights, conducting inclusive research, and supporting the trans community are equally welcome as members of TRANSS UCC.
- Collaborators: TRANSS UCC values collaboration with colleagues from across UCC and beyond, particularly community organisations.
If you would like to join, please contact the chair of the working group.
