foodlineUCC has something for everyone working in the food, agri-food and seafood sectors.
The Food Industry Training Unit (FITU), School of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University College Cork in partnership with Taste 4 Success Skillnet officially launched foodlineUCC on the 28th of October 2020. FoodlineUCC is an exciting, innovative. new online initiative that is dedicated to the development and provision of online courses and resources for the food, agri-food and seafood sectors.
The official launch saw foodlineUCC use various online tools and techniques needed in today’s challenging technological climate. Preceded by a soft launch in the form of information and image drops across social media, the official launch day began with the unveiling of a dedicated foodlineUCC homepage containing information on blended and online courses in addition to free resources.
The highlight of the launch day was a free interactive webinar presented by Professor Liam O’Mahony from the Department of Medicine, School of Microbiology and APC Microbiome Ireland at University College Cork. The session was delivered to industry and academia and was an exciting and thought-provoking session on “Can Foods Protect Against Food Allergy?”.
The launch also included the release of a free online publication on “Increasing your presence online – A guide to helpful online resources”. Containing an introduction to social media platforms, websites, webpages and other various tools, this publication has proven to be a valuable free resource for those who may be venturing into an online space.
All in all, the launch of foodlineUCC proved to be a highly interactive day full of informative and free resources, helping individuals, companies and academics understand the potential and possibilities that online and blended learning can have, as well as being an engaging and effective way to upskill and transmit new knowledge.
