Today, the UCC arboretum stands as a testament to the university's commitment to sustainability and conservation. It is an integral part of the campus landscape, offering a serene environment for students, staff, and visitors. Community engagement and outreach programs as well both national and international collaborations have highlighted the importance of trees in combating climate change and biodiversity loss. These programmes aim to protect and celebrate trees, ensuring their scientific, cultural and historical significance is recognised.
Looking to the future, the arboretum's mission is expanding. UCC is committed to planting more rare and endangered species, enhancing its role in global conservation efforts. Future plans include advanced ecological research initiatives and increased community engagement, ensuring that the arboretum remains a thriving hub for environmental education and a green haven for generations to come. This Culture Night, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to a future where nature and culture continue to flourish together.
