Students and Staff Take Stride for Oral Health at the Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon
On Sunday, September 20th, students past and present across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with staff and friends, gathered to participate in the 45th Annual Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon
Whether running or walking, participants demonstrated great enthusiasm, teamwork and community spirit, supporting their own wellbeing while also raising awareness of the importance of oral health.
Wearing T-shirts kindly provided by the Dental Health Foundation (DHF), a charity dedicated to improving oral health through advocacy, education and oral health promotion, students, staff and friends created a strong and visible presence at the event.
Participation also helped shine a spotlight on the connection between oral health and overall wellbeing. Oral health can sometimes be overlooked, despite many general health conditions first presenting signs and symptoms in the mouth. Similarly, illnesses and medications can have an impact on oral health.
Raising awareness of these connections is an important part of improving patient care and health outcomes, and forms part of the wider role of the dental team.
A sincere thank you to everyone who took part, raising awareness of oral health and highlighting the commitment of our students and staff to promoting better health in the wider community.
Congratulations and well done to everyone who participated and represented the Dental School with such pride, energy and dedication.
