Niamh Moore (Diagnostic Radiography) and Trish O’Sullivan (Physiotherapy) organised an excellent Interprofessional Learning workshop event ‘Understanding Dementia Together – a new collaborative multi-disciplinary approach’ at Nano Nagle Place recently.

Over 150 students from across 11 disciplines at College of Medicine and Health attended – first time ever that many disciplines have come together. Dr. Tony Foley, GP and Senior Lecturer at UCC’s Department of General Practice said these workshops are exactly what is needed - “collaborative multidisciplinary care is essential in order to meet the complex needs of people with dementia and their families”.

This innovative workshop he said will harness the collective knowledge and skills of a range of healthcare professionals. “It is about fostering that team-work approach amongst our students, sharing how we can learn to work effectively together.”
