Kazakhstan: National Ombudmsan for Human Rights
In December, 2007, Dr Siobhan Mullally was appointed by the UNDP / Government of Kazakhstan as an adviser on the development of the National Ombudsman for Human Rights. The Ombudsman is one of the key human rights protection mechanisms in Kazakhstan, with a mandate to receive and consider complaints of human rights violations and to monitor compliance with human rights standards.
