UCC's Eli Lilly Scholars visit company's Dunderrow site

UCC's Eli Lilly PhD Scholars and staff from the School of Engineering and Architecture recently visited Eli Lilly at their Dunderrow site in recognition of the pharmaceutical company’s contribution to the university over the years.

Visiting from UCC were Prof Edmond Byrne, UCC Chair Professor of Process and Chemical Engineering, Cal Healy, Deputy Director of Business Development and Advancement, Dr Fatemeh Kavousi, UCC Eli Lilly Lecturer in Biochemical/Biopharmaceutical Engineering, Dr Archishman Bose, UCC Eli Lilly Lecturer in Process & Chemical Engineering, Prof Jarka Glassey, UCC Eli Lilly Adjunct Professor in Biopharmaceutical Engineering (Newcastle University) and a number of Eli Lilly PhD Scholars who met with Jean Casey, Corporate Affairs Leader and Noreen Lynch Ph.D. Associate VP-TSMS, Monoclonal and Small Molecule API.

A tour of the site was followed by presentations from the UCC Eli Lilly staff and the Eli Lilly Scholars, along with a discussion. The UCC staff and scholars were delighted to have the opportunity to tour the impressive Lilly site and to showcase the impact of Lilly’s support and the Lilly Scholars’ research work.

Cal Healy, Deputy Director of Business Development and Advancement, UCC commented that “UCC is hugely grateful and thankful to Eli Lilly for their continued and enabling support of UCC over the years and we acknowledge and thank Jean and Noreen for welcoming UCC to the Dunderrow site.”
