BioMedica President's Prize 2023

Congratulations to Gavin Buckley (BSc Biomedical Science(UCC/MTU) who won the President's Prize at the BioMedica Science Annual Conference.

Gavin's project was entitled "Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 12 as a therapeutic target for the treatment of breast cancer", which he completed under the supervision of Dr Malgosia Krajewska, School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.

The President’s Prize is an award presented by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine. Two students from each of the Biomedical Sciences programmes in UCC/MTU, TU Dublin and GMIT, who have excelled in their final year research projects, present their respective research projects and compete for this prize.

Gavin will now represent Ireland and compete for the Martin Nicholson Award at the annual European Association for Professions in Biomedical Sciences, international conference, which will be held in Malta in November 2023.
