2018 BSc in Biomedical Science Conferring

The conferring ceremony for the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science class was held in University College Cork, on Wednesday, 17th October. Thirty BSc (Hons) students graduated from the Biomedical Science programme, which is run jointly with Cork Institute of Technology.
Professor Paul Ross, Head of College of Science, Engineering & Food Science introduced the graduands and President Patrick O’Shea (UCC) and President Barry O’Connor (CIT), jointly presented the parchments to the students. The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science programme is both inter institutional and inter disciplinary. Biomedical Science Board of Studies members in attendance at the ceremony were Dr John Morgan, Microbiology UCC (Director of BSc Biomedical Science programme), Mr Michael Healy, Biological Sciences CIT (Assistant Director of BSc Biomedical Science programme), Dr Lesley Cotter (Biological Sciences CIT), Dr Collette Hand (Pathology UCC),Dr Sinéad Kerins (Biochemistry, UCC), Dr Brigid Lucey (Biological Sciences CIT), Dr Brendan O’Connell (Head of Biological Sciences CIT) and Dr Fiona O’Halloran (Biological Sciences CIT). The conferring address was delivered by Dr Barry O’Connor, President, CIT. Dr O’Connor spoke of the successful partnership UCC and CIT have developed and acknowledged the success of the joint programmes; BSc (Hons) Architecture, BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science, Degree of Master of Architecture (MArch) and Professional Master of Education (PME).
