Works on coastal vulnerability and sustainability issues, including capacity building projects in the coastal zone. Co-chair of Future Earth Coast Scientific Steering Committee. The International Project Office for Future Earth Coasts, part of a ten-year global programme responding to the Sustainable Development Goals, is hosted in UCC. International reach extends into the global south including partnerships in Africa, Caribbean, and SE Asia.
