Name: Dr Jackelina Pando Kelly

Dr Jackelina Pando Kelly was born in Peru, where she did her undergraduate training at a Medical School and then moved to Ireland and completed her Paediatric training in 2010. She is currently a Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics & Child Health at UCC and works also in the Out-patients Paediatric Department at Cork University Hospital.
As a medical student, Jackie started volunteering with the OMG (Operation Matto Grosso) which is a movement of Italian volunteers working in Peru and continues to work at the Hospital as a volunteer each summer. Since 2012, she has been taking UCC Medical students to the hospital to do an elective rotation there, while she provides medical care and training to medical and nursing staff there. She does ongoing research in the field of Chronic Mountain Sickness and its Renal Effects with a Global Team of researchers from University of Denver (USA), and Cayetano Heredia University (Peru).

Elective Rotation for 4th Year Medical Students in Peru. (Hospital Mama Ashu)
Dr. Pando Kelly takes 3-4 medical students every summer to volunteer with her in a rural hospital in the Andes in Peru. Providing Paedaitric medical care for children there, while doing some clinical teaching to UCC medical students there. Prior to the trips every year, they organize fundraising activities to support the hospital. She also trains local medical /nursing staff in Peru during her time there. https://hellointhere.ie/
