UCC Community Garden Open to All

27 Apr 2023

The UCC Community Garden is embracing Spring, with hard work being done by garden volunteers. Irene Ní Shúilleabháin, UCC’s Greenshoots Coordinator, organised an Introduction to Permaculture workshop at the garden in March. This was led by Dónal Chambers of Kinsale College, who provided a vast amount of knowledge and enthusiasm for workshop attendees.

UCC’s Community Garden is an invaluable asset to students and staff on campus. Irene is in the process of installing an information sign at the garden entrance, which will provide details on volunteer hours, new projects and garden events. Irene’s work focuses on student engagement with green spaces, and she is always delighted to introduce interested students to the garden. Staff willing to volunteer their expertise are always hugely appreciated in the garden – indeed, key members of staff continue to keep the garden thriving during periods when students are absent (thank you Beatrix and Mary!).

Irene will aim to be in the garden from 12:30 – 13:30 on Tuesdays, and 12:30 – 14:30 on Thursdays. Any students or staff who would like an introduction to the garden are welcome to email Irene at inishuilleabhain@ucc.ie.
