239 Entrance Scholarships awarded to first year students
239 Entrance Scholarships were awarded to first year students last night in University College Cork (UCC). Entrance Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement in the school leaving examinations. Students represented 115 schools in Ireland and 1 school in Poland.
Among the Entrance Scholarships were the Kavanagh Celtic Civilisation Scholarships awarded to the 2 highest achieving students who chose to study Celtic Civilisation as part of their BA Arts programme, while the Mary Ryan Scholarships were offered to the 7 highest achieving students who registered to study at least two foreign languages.
The Bachelor of Education Gaeilge Scholarships, sponsored by An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscolaíochta were awarded to the ten highest achieving students registered on UCC's BEd Gaeilge degree programme.
