UCC hosts the annual PATH SOAR Project Steering Group Meeting

On June 2nd UCC hosted the annual PATH SOAR Project Steering Group Meeting.
Funded under the Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH) Strand 3, the SOAR Project is an inter-institutional collaboration on Access. It brings together the South Cluster of higher education institutions - Munster Technological University, South East Technological University and project lead University College Cork; working with community partners to develop strategies and initiatives to increase the access of key target groups to higher education.
Positioned within the Access Service of each participating HEI it builds on existing Access knowledge and practice, providing opportunity for new, innovative initiatives. Partnership and collaboration are the cornerstone of the project.
Under PATH Strand 3, the SOAR Project was awarded €1.6M for an initial three-year phase in 2018. In 2021 the programme was extended for a second phase, 2021-2024, and the South Cluster secured a further €1.6M phase II funding following submission of a successful project proposal.
The PATH Steering Group is chaired by UCC Deputy President & Registrar, Professor Stephen Byrne. ‘It is a great pleasure to welcome partner institutions to UCC and celebrate SOAR Project achievements of the last year. The extension of PATH 3 funding is testament to the strength and success of the Project in the initial phase and the quality and ambition of the proposal set out for phase II.”
