Quercus alum and World Championship Gold Medalist, Paul O'Donovan, with Quercus Manager, Michèle Power, and UCC President & Director of the Quercus Programme, Prof. John O'Halloran

Congratulations to Quercus alum, Paul O'Donovan, who has won Gold at the Lightweight Men's Singles Rowing World Championships in Canada. Greece took Silver and Italy took Bronze.

Paul has achieved this fabulous win just one month after winning Olympic Gold in the Lightweight Men's Double Schulls in Paris '24.

After the race Paul said: "I'm a little bit tired but that's to be expected. It was very close in the first stages and then the Greek took off and I was like 'oh I better follow him, he's pretty dangerous'. I had to go with him. I tracked him down in the end and got a little bit ahead. I just kept working to avoid a sprint at the finish...I was happy to cross the line in the front position."

Great job as usual Paul!!!
