Dr Orla Healy, Specialist in Public Health Medicine (HSE South)

Biography

Dr. Orla Healy is a Specialist in Public Health Medicine with HSE South. Her main areas of interest are Acute Hospitals and Adverse Incident Management. Dr. Healy is member of the Reconfiguration Forum for Cork and Kerry (having been a member of the Project Team 2008-2011) and is currently seconded to the Department of Health as part of National Establishment of Hospital Groups project team. She is a member of the National Incident Management Team of the HSE. She holds a Senior Lecturer post in UCC and collaborates with the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology on a number of health services research projects.

Dr. Healy received a medical degree from UCC in 1994 and trained in acute hospital medicine for five years before moving into public health. She received an MPH from UCD in 2000 after which she undertook Higher Specialist Training in Public Health Medicine before being appointed to her current post in 2005. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in addition to the Faculty of Public Health Medicine of Ireland.
