Biography

Sinéad is a HRB PhD scholar in Health Services Research based at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre (NPEC) in Cork University Maternity Hospital. She graduated with a BSc in Public Health and Health Promotion in 2008 and with a Master of Public Health (MPH) in 2009 from the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, University College Cork (UCC). During her MPH, Sinéad specialised in advanced epidemiology and biostatistics and carried out her thesis project entitled, “Mortality associated with anthropometric nutritional status: An update using the WHO 2006 Child Growth Standards". Her previous research experience includes working as a Research Assistant to Dr. Kathleen Bennett on the CHAIR project (An audit of CHAIR/ACS registry, HIPE and medical chart review) in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics in St. James Hospital and completing a work placement with Dr. Elizabeth Keane in the Department of Public Health in Cork. Sinéad's current PhD research will investigate mode of delivery in childbirth and subsequent risk of ectopic pregnancy, spontaneous miscarriage and stillbirth, using Danish Civil Registration System (CRS) data. Her supervisory panel include: Dr. Ali Khashan (CUMH), Dr. Patricia Kearney (UCC), Prof. Esben Agerbo (Aarhus, Denmark), Prof. Louise Kenny (CUMH), Prof. Richard Greene and Ms. Jennifer Lutomski (NPEC).
