Post-Doctoral Research Opportunity @ CPPU
We're looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher / senior postdoctoral researcher (depending on experience) to join us at the Cleaner Production Promotion Unit. The sucessful candidate will work within an existing team focused on the human and societal dimensions of the energy transition.
Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated researcher to join an established research group working on the human and societal dimensions of the energy transition. The Cleaner Production Promotion Unit is a multi-disciplinary research centre based in UCC’s School of Engineering and Environmental Research Institute. Operating at the intersection of the social sciences with science and engineering, the unit conducts engaged research focused on the theme of society, sustainability and energy. Its interdisciplinary team comprises researchers from diverse backgrounds including human geography, political science, sociology, environmental science and engineering. The group has a substantial portfolio of research projects funded under both national and EU funding schemes. More information can be found at https://cppu.ucc.ie/.
The successful candidate will work with the existing team conducting engaged research on a number of ongoing national and international projects, but primarily in relation to two Horizon 2020 projects – namely:
- EnergyMeasures, a project led by CPPU working to address energy poverty in seven European countries through direct household engagements, complemented and informed by cutting edge policy and practice innovations. See https://energymeasures.eu for more details.
- REALISE, a project working to support delivery of CCUS technology in the refineries sector, wherein CPPU are leading a work package on the community and socio-political dimensions. See https://realiseccus.eu/ for more details.
Applications are invited from candidates with relevant PhD qualification and experience of research on the human and societal aspects of the energy transition.
Post Duration: 12 months (with potential for extension)
Salary: Post-Doctoral Researcher: €38,630 - €45, 942 p.a. (IUA Salary Scale), Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher: €47,264 - €50,029 p.a. (IUA Salary Scale)
