School of Nursing & Midwifery Technical Requirements

All BSc Nursing and Midwifery undergraduate students will be required to own an Apple device (iPad or iPad mini) and an Apple pen (or other compatible stylus). Please note, if students have their own Apple device, it must have an operating system (iOS) of 12 or higher and be compatible with an Apple pen (or other compatible stylus).

Please click on the following link to check compatibility: https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT211029.

The Apple device and pen will be required to complete scheduled clinical placements and in completing programme work while in college. An Apple phone is not permissible for this work. You may wish to wait to purchase your Apple device and pen after you have registered with UCC to avail of student discounts with HEAnet, an online store that provides a wide range of educational discounts on ICT hardware, software, and other services for students.

The Apple device will require a plain protective case (preferably without ridges) to allow for easy decontamination. In addition, the School recommends that students obtain insurance for the device purchased or owned.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery is committed to making provisions to support students who demonstrate that they or their families do not have the means to purchase a device themselves to ensure equality of access. Should you have any questions, please reach out to us at nursingstudies@ucc.ie.
