New Research Project on Victims of Crime launched

Dr Shane Kilcommins and Professor Caroline Fennell, CCJHR, in conjunction with Dr Maire Leane from the Department of Applied Social Studies, were awarded a nine month research contract to carry out research for the Commission for the Support of Victims of  Crime, on the needs of victims of crime and their families. The research project  will also seek to determine how victims inform themselves of the support services available, the extent to which victims of crime seek support from the services available, and the extent to which, in the opinion of victims, those needs are met by the crimnal justice agencies. The work began in October 2008 and is set to conclude in June 2009. This is the first major study of this kind to be undertaken in Ireland. For further information, contact Dr Shane Kilcommins, s.kilcommins@ucc.ie
