BSc in Biomedical Science 2015 conferrings

The conferring ceremony for the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science class was held in University College Cork, on Monday, 19 October 2015. 

Thirty two BSc (Hons) students graduated from the Biomedical Science programme, which is run jointly with Cork Institute of Technology (CIT). The programme is presently directed by Dr Sinéad Kerins of this School.

Professor David Sheehan, Head of School, introduced the graduands and President Michael Murphy and Dr Barry O’Connor (Registrar CIT), jointly presented the parchments to the students.

The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science programme is both interinstitutional and interdisciplinary. Biomedical Science Board of Studies members in attendance at the ceremony were Dr Lesley Cotter, Biological Sciences, CIT; Dr Collette Hand, Pathology, UCC; Mr Michael Healy, Biological Sciences, CIT; Dr Sinéad Kerins, School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, UCC; Dr Brigid Lucey, Biological Sciences, CIT; Dr John Morgan, Microbiology, UCC; Dr Brendan O’Connell, Head of Biological Sciences, CIT and Dr Fiona O’Halloran, Biological Sciences, CIT.

In advance of the ceremony, our colleagues from Cork Institute of Technology and Dr Sinéad Kerins attended a lunch with President Michael Murphy. Also in attendance were Professor Paul Ross, Head of the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science, UCC and Mr Aaron Forde, CEO, Aurivo Co-operative Society Ltd and Director and Chairman of Ornua.

Dr Sinéad Kerins would like to thank Dara O’Shea and Louise Riordan (Office of Marketing and Communications) for the excellent organisation of the joint ceremony.

Finally, the Biomedical Science Board of Studies members would like to wish the BSc Biomedical Science graduates every success in their future careers.
