Confucius Institute (CI)
UCC CI teachers participated in the Teaching Competition held in Belfast
On 11 February 2023, nearly fifty teachers from the Confucius Institute at University College Cork, Ireland, the Confucius Institute at University College Dublin, Ireland and the Confucius Institute at Ulster University, Belfast, Northern Ireland participated in a friendly competition for the exchange of Chinese teaching skills between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in the UK. Six of our teachers came to the Confucius Institute at Ulster University, Belfast, Northern Ireland to participate in this event.
The competition was organised by the Confucius Institute at Ulster University in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was divided into two parts: a Chinese teaching skills demonstration and a question and answer session. Each participant had to present their teaching plan for students of different age groups and Chinese language levels and answer questions from the judges within 20 minutes.
Four of our teachers participated in this teaching competition and won awards for the best lesson plan, best slideshow design and technology innovation.
This event promoted teaching and learning through the competition. On the one hand, it promoted the exchange of teaching skills and experience among the teachers of the three Confucius Institutes. On the other hand, it was a wonderful experience for the teachers to deepen their relationships and friendship, and it also facilitated the communication and coordination among the Confucius Institutes on the island on matters related to Chinese language teaching and cultural activities.
