Athens

Alumni were invited to attend a reception at the Embassy of Ireland in Athens as part of a special gathering hosted for Irish universities during the week-long global celebration of Saint Patrick's Day.  This was a lovely occasion on which graduates had an opportunity to re-connect with UCC and to meet alumni of other Irish universities based in Greece.  With thanks to the Embassy of Ireland for bringing alumni together for this occasion.

Shanghai

Alumni and students of UCC’s DBA programme in Shanghai joined the wider Irish community at the St Patrick’s Ball, hosted by the Irish Chamber of Commerce China, Le Chéile, Shanghai GAA and Friends of Northern Ireland China. The event also raised funds for Shanghai Sunrise, a charity dedicated to championing education for a brighter future. The UCC table carried the name The Lee, a fitting tribute to Cork’s iconic river and a symbol of home for many alumni abroad.

San Francisco

In March, UCC, UCD and the Irish Network Bay Area (INBA) held an alumni gathering in San Francisco, bringing together members of the Irish diaspora community for an evening of connection and collaboration. The event highlighted the strength and global reach of Ireland’s academic and professional networks.

This three-way collaboration was a key feature of the evening, creating a broader platform for engagement and fostering meaningful connections across university alumni and the wider Irish community in the Bay Area. Overall, the event reflected a shared commitment to supporting and strengthening Ireland's international diaspora, as well as the important role of engagement and philanthropy in supporting these global relationships.

Chicago

In February, Alumni and friends in Chicago gathered at Ireland House on Tuesday for a memorable evening of connection and conversation. Guests were warmly welcomed by UCC alum, Vice Consul Pádraig Manning.

Professor Ursula Kilkelly, VP Global Engagement, shared highlights from campus and presented an overview of UCC's global partnerships, highlighting the strength and impact of the University's linkages in the Chicago region. Denis Neville, CEO of CoreFX Ingredients, spoke engagingly of the benefits of a connected alumni community and invited guests to join in the creation of an alumni network in Chicago, (further details to follow soon!). With sincere thanks to the Consulate team for kindly hosting this special event.
