The biggest International Conference on Human Resource Development Research and Practice to date is set to the take place at UCC from June 3 to 5.

Sponsored by the Irish Institute for Training and Development, over 190 peer-reviewed papers will be presented across 45 different sessions at the annual UFHRD conference.

The theme for the 16th instalment of the conference, to be held at the Western Gateway Building, is Towards Evidence Based HRD Practice: Bridging the Gap between academic research and industry practice, resulting from the lack of research that tests theory in the real world of practice.

The conference will explore opportunities to connect the two and consider methodologies for incorporating evidence-based research into organisational policies and procedures.

Keynote speakers will include Sandra Robinson, Michael Morley, David Collings and Aidan Lawrence.

A designated Distinguished Scholar at the University of British Columbia, and a Professor in the Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Division in the Sauder School of Business, Sandra Robinson will discuss how decades of research evidence has shown that trust is a powerful and necessary ingredient for employee, team and organisational effectiveness.

Michael Morley, Professor of Management in the Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick will deliver a keynote speech titled Evidence-Based Cross-Cultural Management, looking at some of the challenges that arise in institutionalising the evidence-based model.

Professor of HRM at Dublin City University Business School David Collings will highlight in his session the potential value of talent management as an area of study and practice.

A Visiting Professor at King’s College London, Collings’ research and consulting interests focus on management in multinational corporations with a particular emphasis on staffing and talent management issues. His work in these areas has been published in outlets such as the Journal of World Business, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Human Relations and the Industrial and Labor Relations Review.

Worldwide Learning and Organization Development Director for Hewlett-Packard’s Personal Systems and Printing Business, Aidan Lawrence, will explore the opportunity and need for academic research to inform and contribute to strategic HR practice from a HR practitioner’s perspective.

Registration is open until May 29 and further details can be found at: http://ufhrd2015.org/
