The design memorandum outlines the design of a decanter centrifuge system for the separation of the digestate stream from an anaerobic digestion, as part of the PE4050 Design Project Food Waste to Biogas. The objective of this separation step is to obtain liquid and solid streams that can be sold as bio-fertilizers and soil amendments respectively. This not only makes use of a previously considered waste stream, but also provides an alternative source of income for the proposed biogas facility.
