Taught MEngSc Programmes

Our taught Master of Engineering Science (MEngSc) programmes, focused on the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical sectors, provide a unique offering from UCC Process and Chemical Engineering. These Masters programmes are designed to provide participants with an advanced qualification related to pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical processing. The programmes encompass all aspects of modern pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical  manufacturing including product containment, powder/particle technology, design of API and secondary production facilities, current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), design of classified facilities, aseptic processing facility design, utilities and services, data analyses, process validation, sustainability and management in manufacturing.
 
Modules are delivered not only by academics from UCC  but lecturers from leading industries including Eli Lilly, Pfizer and PM Group and the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), Dublin, providing hands-on-training and insights into state-of-the-art pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and practices.
We have two programmes; one Part-Time and one Full-Time to accommodate both full-time students and working professionals. 
Part-Time MEngSc in Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Engineering
This programme is a  part-time programme running for a minimum of 24 months over 2 academic years (maximum 5 years) and comprising 3 modules of 5 credits per semester. All modules will be offered in a blended learning mode. The course has been designed to allow working professionals, either based locally in Cork, or also especially those who are based outside Cork, or even Ireland, to effectively participate in the programme availing of both online materials and in-person lectures facilitating peer-learning and professional networking.

Full-Time MEngSc in Engineering in Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Systems 
This programme has been designed  specifically for full-time students (both EU and non-EU) running for 12 months over one academic year. All applicants looking to study full-time in UCC must apply to this programme.
