2020-21 Winner is Colm Power (Graduated 2020)
“Colm Power worked in a group that designed a commercial scale production facility for Sofosbuvir, a medication fr the treatment of hepatitis C. In addition to his group contribution, he worked on the design and optimisation of a Solvent Recovery Distillation Column, for the recovery of Dichloromethane (DCM) from a mixture of solvent streams, with 99% purity and 80% recovery. Colm has also carried out a detailed hazard and operability study, identifying in detail the major hazards of the process, implementing novel safety features for the mitigation of the associated risks.”
