Eco2Schools is an Erasmus+ funded project through the end of 2025. The project’s overall aim is to demonstrate that educational buildings can become enablers of the New European Bauhaus. This is proposed to be achieved by:
- integration of pedagogical targets regarding sustainability into the curriculum,
- re-considering the relationship of the schools with the local communities as hubs of innovation towards the green transition and sustainable development and,
- ongoing development of a roadmap on how schools can become a physical place of education and knowledge.
This project was undertaken by UCC as it complements the concept of Sustainability Citizenship, one of the 9 themes of the university’s Sustainability and Climate Action Plan. UCC’s activity in the project is centered around the UCC Enterprise Centre on the North Mall Campus, which is currently undergoing a deep retrofit. Here surveys are being carried out to track building users’ overall climate literacy and the pedagogical retention of 4 test activities. The test activities will be carried out throughout 2024 and 2025.
