The School of Society, Politics and Ethics (SSPE), one of the largest in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences (CACSSS), UCC, brings together the Departments of Government and Politics, Philosophy, Sociology and Criminology, and the Study of Religions. The teaching, research and public engagement activities of its constituent departments span the breadth of the major social, political and ethical questions shaping contemporary societies. Staff across the departments are engaged in cutting-edge, internationally recognised research in a wide range of fields, including democracy and governance, the study of society, crime and social justice, ethics, global belief systems, philosophical enquiry, identity, anthropology, and social change. The current Head of School is Professor Theresa Reidy. The School Management Team also includes Prof James Kapaló, Head of Department (Study of Religions), Dr Tracey Skillington, Head of Department (Sociology and Criminology), Dr Joel Walmsley, Head of Department (Philosophy), Dr Liam Weeks, Head of Department (Government and Politics), and Niamh Sweeney, School Manager.

The departments of SSPE offer a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes, as well as professional placement and lifelong learning opportunities.
