30 Sep 2021

Chair Professor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Nabeel A. Riza of University College Cork (UCC), Ireland has been named as a 2021 Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP). The IOP was originally two bodies, the Physical Society of London (founded 1874) and the Institute of Physics.  The merger of these two bodies in 1920 formed the current IOP. 2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the IOP. The IOP is a world leading Professional Society for Physicists. The Fellowship of the Institute of Physics (FInstP) is an award granted by the IOP which indicates a very high level of achievement in physics and an outstanding contribution to the profession. Prof. Riza’s world leading research contributions in physics includes the study of high temperature Silicon Carbide materials for optical sensing to the design of precision high stability optical interferometry techniques.
