Throughout his distinguished career as Professor of Public Health and founding Head of the School of Public Health, UCC, Professor Perry led groundbreaking research. Under his leadership, the School developed from a small Department to the largest and highest ranking School of Public Health on the island of Ireland, with a high-quality teaching programme and an exceptional research programme led by world-class researchers.
Professor Perry enabled the School to become a leading voice in public health policy, tackling issues such as obesity, heart disease, and mental health. Through his roles in shaping academic research, building public health capacity and influencing national policy, Professor Perry leaves a lasting legacy of evidence-based public health initiatives.
The Professor Ivan J. Perry Award will be awarded annually to the students who come first place in the Master of Public Health (MPH) campus and the MPH online programmes with the awardees announced at the School of Public Health’s annual award ceremony.
