We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for a scholarship to pursue PhD study at the School of Law commencing in Autumn 2026.

Students are provided with an unparalleled experience within a well-established and vibrant community of doctoral scholars, with access to experienced supervisors who are internationally recognised experts in their fields and a suite of tailored supports, facilities and activities.

The scholarship is available to a candidate who will commence PhD studies in Autumn 2026. It covers tuition fees (fully funded for either EU or non-EU applicants) and a stipend of EUR 25,000 per year for a maximum of 4 years. Separately remunerated opportunities in lecturing or tutoring may be available during the PhD.

The scholarship is offered by the School of Law and is open to candidates in any field of Law. Candidates are encouraged in the first instance to develop a research proposal and to contact potential supervisors.

The scholarship has specific application requirements. In particular, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Candidates must have a First-Class honours or high 2.1 honours degree (or equivalent) undergraduate degree in law.
• Candidates should have a Master’s degree in law or a cognate field, and/or extensive and relevant professional experience demonstrative of capacity for independent research and writing.
