Global Virus Network Forefront of Virology Webinar featuring Dr. Gerardo Ceada

The Global Virus Network, in partnership with the University of South Florida, presents a webinar series featuring expert virologists from GVN Centers of Excellence. This session features Dr Gerardo Ceada, Organoid Biobank Manager at IRTA-CReSA, who will discuss "Animal-Derived Organoids: Powerful Platforms to Assess Pathogens' Tropism." The webinar includes a 30-40 minute presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A.

Dr Gerardo Ceada is the manager of the organoid biobank at IRTA-CReSA (Barcelona, Spain). He studied Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Girona and completed a Master's in Multidisciplinary Research at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He earned a PhD in Biomedicine at the University of Barcelona-Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, where he developed enhanced culture platforms for mouse intestinal organoids and characterized the mechanobiological principles behind their self-organization into crypt- and villus-like domains. At IRTA-CReSA, he is currently developing various organotypic in vitro models from a wide range of livestock, domestic, and wild animal species, to study epizootic and zoonotic infectious diseases. He is also working as an adjunct lecturer at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he teaches about the histological features of tissues and organs at the Faculty of Medicine.
