START-UP LAB
Have a start-up idea but don’t know where to start?
What it is: A 7-week evening programme at University College Cork for undergraduate and postgraduate students who are developing a start-up idea with real commercial, social, or environmental potential.
What happens: Held over seven Tuesday evenings, this workshop-style programme helps you turn your idea into a solid business model. Each week includes:
-
Step-by-step guidance to build your start-up.
-
Group work with peers to solve challenges.
-
Mentoring and feedback from experienced advisors.
-
A talk from a real start-up founder sharing advice on topics like networking, funding, and team building.
Why it's useful: It’s ideal if you already have a start-up idea and want to take it further. You’ll gain hands-on experience, expert support, and the chance to pitch your idea to a panel at the end. You may even be offered a place on the IGNITE start-up accelerator if your idea meets the criteria.
Who it’s for:
-
Open to UCC students from any discipline (undergraduate or postgraduate).
-
Best suited to those who are eager to work on their idea, even beyond the programme.
