Microcredentials

Energy engineering at UCC currently offer two 5-credit microcredentials:

  • NE6212 Clean Energy Futures, delivered by Dr Paul Deane, explores the complex challenges faced by societies, organisations and individuals we transition away from fossil fuels. Students are educated in real-world energy systems and how to model them using PLEXOS, the industry standard software. The module is particularly suited to those working in environmental policy, national energy strategy, or climate-related fields who wish to broaden their understanding. For details, including how to apply, see: https://www.ucc.ie/en/ne6212/
  • NE6010 Offshore Wind Energy, delivered by Dr Paul Leahy, educates students in the advanced engineering and non-engineering issues relevant to offshore wind energy systems design, construction, installation, operations, finance and governance, with a particular focus on these developments in Irish waters. The module covers both fixed and floating technologies. This module is fully continuously assessed with a large focus on project work. The module includes significant input from industry experts through several guest lectures. For details, including how to apply, see:  https://www.ucc.ie/en/ne6010/

These microcredentials are stackable towards both the Postgraduate Certificate in Offshore Renewable Energy and the MEngSc in Sustainable Energy.
