Ongoing Postgraduate Research Registration

  • All research students must register online each year until the submission of their thesis.
  • All research students must use their umail account for all student and research activities.

Online Registration

Having trouble registering?

If you cannot register online, it might be due to one of the following reasons:

1. There may be an outstanding fee payment due

Register a query with the Fees Office to resolve any funding/fees issues: Log a Fee Query

2. You may require an extension for your programme

If you have completed the maximum period of study allowed for your programme (6 years for Doctoral students and 4 years for Master by Research), you must apply and be approved for an extension to register for the next academic year.  To do this you must log into Graduate Education Manager (GEM).  An up-to-date annual progress review must be recorded on GEM in order for this request to be progressed.  Queries and issue can be directed to doctoralinstitute@ucc.ie

Student ID Card

  • Your current Student ID Card will deactivate when your registration period is expired, so you will no longer have access to university facilities.
  • Check the expiry date on your physical card: if your card is still in date, it will reactivate automatically once you register online.
  • If your card is out of date, you will first need to register online. And then follow these instuctions to get a new physical card.
